Often, we have time for everyone and everything else, but absolutely zero time for those who supposedly matter. Then you have to ask yourself, "Do I actually matter at all, or was that a figment of my imagination?'
Giving me your time is the most valuable gift you could give me. It speaks volumes without saying a word. The flip side of that is giving me dregs of your time...merely "showing up" on occasion to tick a box. Now that I can absolutely do without - worse when the attention is showered elsewhere. Then, as far as I'm concerned, THERE is where you need to be...not with me. There where the attention is showered to the max is where your future needs to be invested. I'm 'old school' and I won't change.
